Nicknamed ‘Ashe Bolt’ by his teammates, Favour Ashe made history by becoming the first athlete from MoC Track Club to run a World Lead at any time, barely one year after joining the club!

Born on 28th April 2002, Ashe is the second athlete in the MoC Track Club whose first name is ‘Favour’, the other being Favour Ekpekpe who joined in 2017. Ashe is indeed favoured, as he begins the arduous task of climbing to the pinnacle of his Athletics career.

Making a good impression at the 2018 MoC Athletics Trials in Ughelli, Ashe was one of the athletes selected to join MoC Track Club for the 2019 season.

Competing at the 2019 National U18 & U20 Trials in Ilaro, Ogun State, Ashe easily won his 100m heat and made the final as well as the Final B of the Boys’ 200m. The talented sprinter also put on a good show in his maiden outing at the MoC Grand Prix, winning his 100m heat and the C Final in the 200m!

The teenager went on to make an impressive debut at the National Championships by clocking two PBs in the men’s 100m. He bettered his PB to 10.77s to finish 2nd in his heat and further lowered his time to 10.72s to settle for 6th position in the semis, ending his season on a good note.

He opened his 2020 with a bang when he shattered his PB to after storming to an incredible World U20 Lead (at the time) of 10.40s to win his 100m heat at the AFN All-Comers in Akure in February, surpassing the entry standards for the World U20 Championships in Nairobi.

He also finished Top 3 in both the 100m and 200m at the Lagos State Trials for the National Sports Festival. Ashe will be looking forward to representing Nigeria at the World U20 Championships in Nairobi which has been moved to 2021!
